You’re at Baurech, on the departmental road D10. When you come up to the church, make a right angle turn then turn your back to the river and take the narrow and abrupt little road. Drive until the clayey limestone and grave plateau. Here you are, in the heart of the royal grape varieties from Bordeaux, an ideally drained and perfectly exposed soil. Here, the castle of Laroche presents you its treasures, a fairytale residence which 17th and 18th century’s buildings enclose a picturesque 16th century tower.

The owners, Julien and Martine PALAU, are the co-founders of the association “10 en Premières Côtes de Bordeaux”. This association allows the winegrowers to share their know-how and preserve the ancestral viticulture methods at the same time. The wine making method used gives priority to the fruit and the wine richness.

The 25 hectares of vineyard were planted, on average, 40 years ago. The Merlot grape variety widely dominates (as it is perfectly adapted to clays; it produces full-bodied wines thanks to its constant and soft tannins, so it can be drunk young or mature. But there is also Cabernet Sauvignon (it ripens on the warm gravelly soil) and Cabernet Franc (it gives fineness) as red wines. Sémillon and Sauvignon are used for white wine.

Martine PALAU manages the two vineyards, including work at the wine and spirit store, with 5 collaborators. An efficient team that is quite aware of the quality of the product. We offer a large range of services and we adapt our offers to fit each customer’s needs. She’s been developing an activity of wine merchant for 4 years, “Martine Palau Selection”, to sell abroad wines produced by wine growers from all French regions.

In France, we only sell by mail thanks to our file of very faithful customers. We have more than 2000 customers. We also are well established in Germany, Quebec, Belgium, Czech Republic, Great Britain and since recently in Mexico.
